FIXED PRICE SHOPPING TIP:

Image

The ever popular Ketut’s Fixed Price shop in Legian is often crowded these days and you have to stand in line to be served.

You can easily bypass this however by shopping at Ketut’s Family Shop, run by her baby brother, Wayan!

Image

Ketut’s Family Shop is literally a short walk away and it amazes me that not many people know of it.

Image

Shopping here is a breeze!  There are no crowds and stock is plentiful.  Clothing, sunglasses, bags, belts, perfumes and even small toys are sold here by the helpful and always friendly, Wayan.  He will offer you bottled water, just as Ketut does (and has even been known to offer a Bintang!!)

Image

By shopping at Ketut’s Family Shop, you are continuing to support her family and benefiting from a trustworthy fixed price source.

  • Did you know that Ketut is one of 9 children?  (8 girls and 1 boy, Wayan).

*Please let Wayan know that Exclusively Bali referred you ~

Wrought iron ❤️LOVE…

Over the years, I have often frequented a little wrought iron store in Seminyak, purchasing a variety of items from fruit bowls to candelabras.  They’re always so easy to bring home as they truly are indestructible!

A recent visit however, showed this little shop was now selling the very fashionable coloured wrought iron products.

The range included animal figurines, chandeliers (extra small/small/medium/large), peacock chairs, pineapples, candelabras, loveseats, garment accessories, home décor, shelving…  and the list continues.

ONE STOP Seminyak Shopping…

BINTANG SUPERMARKET

Address:  Jalan Raya No 17, Seminyak

Bintang Supermarket is a handy one stop shop for all your holiday essentials!  Go here early in your trip to purchase basic necessities.  Always busy, this supermarket is the stock-up place for expats.

image

It’s located on the main street of Seminyak, close to the Legian end. It’s large  and has two levels.  Mostly, I’ve found it stocks all the basics – and a few surprises too. You can purchase food, drinks, bathroom products (including sunscreens, though a little exy on the island), baby goods and many other supplies here also.  It really is a one stop shop!  Don’t forget to head upstairs for stationary, hardware and all your home bits.

image  image

Bintang is great for imported as well as local goods. It opens early around 7.30am and closes 11pm.  Such a handy shop if you’ve forgotten to pack something!!  Some friends stock up here for supplies to take back home since they’re so inexpensive eg. toothbrushes, moisturizer, soaps, hand sanitiser, panadol, rubber thongs, bodywash, bandaids, shampoo….

HINT: I use Bintang as a a land mark that people and taxi drivers will instantly recognise.

HINT 2:  There is a reliable Money Changer across the road.

image

HINT 3:  A fab PHONE SHOP for sim cards and data is located on the RHS of the Bintang Supermarket carpark.

image

HINT 4:  If you are looking at posting goods back home, head to the POST OFFICE – also located on the RHS of the carpark.

image

HINT 5:  Although Bintang Supermarket sells alcohol, there is also a specific LIQUOR STORE several shops along on the RHS of the Bintang Supermarket.

Pre-loaded USB Flash Drives are the new DVD’s!!

DVD’s have been available for some time in Balinese DVD stores.  Some are ‘good quality”.  Others, not so good.

The going price is usually 10,000Rph each.  If you buy 10, you get 3 free; buy 20, get 7 free; buy 30, get 11 free etc.

Image

There is always a risk:  some are acceptable quality, others stop before the end, lose quality or shadows of people in the cinema are seen on film since the movies are literally filmed whilst in cinema.

Although DVD’s are still readily available, an improved solution is to buy movies on a portable USB flash drive.  This way, quality movies are purchased that are easily transportable.

Pre-loaded USB Flash Drives are the new DVD’s!!

A USB preloaded with 22 recent movies are now selling in DVD stores for approximately 450,000Rph.

Alternatively, you can provide a blank USB to the DVD store and 32 movies of your choice (from their list) can be loaded for approximately 300,000Rph.

No scratching, warping or weight of DVD’s to worry about!

Simple, lightweight and easy!
