The uber cool Rock Bar…

Whether you’re going for a quiet drink with your much loved or to party with your group, the Rock Bar is a hip place to be.

An open topped bar perched cliff front and overlooking a breathtaking vista of ocean is on one level, whilst another level is surrounded by suspended terraces where you can congregate and drink in the views whilst sipping a cocktail or two.

Be prepared for the occasional splash from the sea on the lower level, or to be “wind-blown”, if the conditions are just right.

I suggest you arrive before sunset and also to leave early to try to beat the long queues for the inclinator.  Keep in mind the inclinator only carries four passengers at a time and resort guests take priority, both ways!

Do consider using the inclinator if steps are a problem for you – there are many!

The drinks are generous and the location breathtaking.

A DJ, delish tapas, sunset ocean views and an uber cool vibe, makes the Rock Bar one of the most popular places to be.

Cheers to a great evening! x

Sunset gazing at La Plancha…

La Plancha is casual, sunset dining at its easiest.  Pull up a brightly-coloured bean bag and enjoy the view.  Simple, unpretentious Spanish food.  Be sure to arrive early to secure a seat as the bean bags are taken quickly.

A popular and arguably romantic beachfront location for sunset gazing over the Indian Ocean.

A lazy Sunday Brunch at the Sheraton…

Bali Sunday Brunches have reached a competitive level these days.

Having previously enjoyed an indulgent brunch at the divine St Regis Resort in Nusa Dua, I felt theirs would be hard to top.   It was with some trepidation therefore, that I attended Sheraton Bali Kuta hotel’s “Sunday Market Brunch”.

I need not have been concerned however, and at just 270,000Rph per adult, the “Sip, Savor and Shop at the Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort’s Feast Market Brunch” is a screaming bargain!

We chose the wine package “all you can sip of locally crafted beers, fine wines and signature cocktails” for an additional 200,000Rph.  (Duval Leroy Brut Champers and Starwood Wines of the World Selection was an additional 450,000Rph)

As a self-confessed décor snob, I was slightly let down on arrival.  (The St Regis at Nusa Dua however, is on a level of its own, let’s face it!)  I soon settled in with great company, moorish free-flowing cocktails and a selection of scrumptious food selections.

An outstanding seafood selection was available for viewing on ice, via the alfresco area.  BBQ style cooking took place here also.

I chose more than I needed and came back for 2nds – and 3rds!!  The free flow wines are very drinkable.  The service at this brunch is impeccable.

The Sheraton Bali Kuta brunch runs from 12midday to 3pm each Sunday.  The menu changes weekly to allow for seasonal ingredients availability.  A Market stall is also available should you wish to purchase fresh produce.

A kid’s corner is all set for small people dining.  It really is a fab family venue- and outing!  Having said that, we were seated comfortably enough away from the kids area so as not to be disturbed.

Did I tell you the Market Brunch is a screaming bargain?!!  Kids (aged 4-12yrs) are just 135,000Rph too.

HINT 1:  Hit the ground running after brunch and head into Kuta square by foot for some fixed price retail therapy.  Alternatively, duck out to the adjacent  new and impressive Kuta Boardwalk shopping centre and pick up a bargain at Zara or other recommended designer stores.

HINT 2:  If you are wanting to kick back and continue being waited on ( as we did), head on up to the next floor where you can enjoy a continued drink service whilst watching the sun set over the idyllic Kuta beach.  Bliss!

Cheers & Bon appetite!!

An indulgent food feast at the St Regis Sunday Brunch….

An indulgent food feast of complete decadence awaits you at the stunning St Regis, Nusa Dua.

I confess I am not a foodie and generally “eat to live”.  Sunday Brunch at the Boneka however, showed how I could change my stance and begin to “live to eat”.

We enjoyed moorish cocktails served in the luxurious King Cole Bar from 11am for 1 hour – long enough to indulge in a few of their signature Bloody Mary’s!!  The beautiful Boneka restaurant then hosts the brunch with a spectacular smorgasbord of food.

The food is fresh and beautifully presented.  The dishes include lobster, oysters, foie gras, wagyu beef and roasted meats from the carvery, valrhona chocolate, tropical fruits and other sinful sweets.

Have I also mentioned how much I adore the St Regis, Bali hotel?  From the glamorous entry with striking multiple glass light-fittings, the lush, evergreen layered vegetation, the perfectly indulgent Remede Spa to the warm and welcoming staff, to the elegant Narumi bone china, the St Regis Bali is first class all the way.

If, like myself,  you are an admirer of decor, design and architecture, you will enjoy the stunning St Regis Bali!

St Regis Sunday Brunch was a total pleasure and a wonderfully memorable experience.

Live music adds a graceful ambiance to an already stylish venue.

The St Regis Sunday Brunch is highly recommended as an elegant venue for an indulgent Christmas/Easter, Birthday, Mothers/Fathers Day or any other celebratory occasion.

HINT:  Complimentary “Children’s Learning Centre” fun for 4-12 year olds so parents can relax and fully enjoy the Boneka Sunday Brunch experience.

Sunday Brunch: 12pm – 3pm

Bon appetite!!

Looking for a stylish drinks venue with breathtaking views?

SOS Rooftop Lounge & Bar

This is a stylish and chic place with sensational views. The three or four times I have gone here have always been nothing short of impressive. Something so sophisticated is not so common in Bali.

Service is responsive and punctual, the food is of a high quality and the atmosphere is quite swish. Somewhat surprising is the fact that the crowds vary: sometimes busy with little room to sit and other times a little empty. (Worst case scenario is that you enjoy a fabulous view of the sunset, with delish food and cocktails, then move on to a more “happening” place – there are so many nearby in Seminyak).

The cocktails aren’t the cheapest but who cares when the view and overall ambience is mostly priceless.

If you get peckish, the tapas menu is a little limited but the cocktails are so good you’ll have to remind yourself to slow down – which could be why they deliver complimentary olives and nuts to your table upon arrival, which is a nice touch.

Situated on the 4th floor, rooftop of the Anantara Hotel in Seminyak, this signature lounge is arguably the highest point in Seminyak .  It’s highly recommended for sunset drinks or to just enjoy the day or night vista up and down the coastline.  No matter what the time, the view is quite breathtaking.

Novel cocktails, tapas, grill and seafood are all served to perfection while guests can recline on oversized daybeds and listen to the latest in DJ choices.

Free WI-FI is available. Prices are expensive for Bali, but still cheaper than Australian prices.

Opening Hours:

4:00 pm – 11:00 pm (Sunday – Thursday)
5:00 pm – 12:00 am (Friday – Saturday)

Address: Anantara Seminyak Resort & Spa, Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia

Phone: +62 361 737773

HINT: If you’re travelling as a family leave the kids behind with a babysitter when you visit here because it’s ultra chic and probably not so child-friendly.

HINT 2: Note the opening hours!  The first time I attended, the SOS bar was closed as we had arrived too early.  No hardship though, we enjoyed a wine or 2 at the poolside bar, ground floor, overlooking the beach.  Bliss!!
